Particle size, concentration, charge and rheology

In Alfatestlab we are experts in nano-systems characterization. Particle size, particle concentration and charge are of fundamental importance to assess nano-systems suitability for the intended application. Alfatestlab provides different analytical techniques to measure the hydrodynamic diameter, the Zeta potential, the concentration of dispersions of sub-micron particles, as well as the rheological properties of the dispersions. Knowing these parameters allow to optimize of the formulation process, to determine the effectiveness of stabilizing agents, to characterize the finished products, to verify and to understand possible problems of stability. Alfatestlab provides reliable, accurate and reproducible results thanks to the deep knowledge of strengths and limitations of each analytical technique, ensuring a correct preparation of the samples. Alfatestlab is equipped with the following technologies:

  • Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) for particle size measurement
  • Multi-Angle Dynamic Light Scattering (MADLS) for size and concentration analysis
  • Electrophoretic Light Scattering (ELS) for the measurement of zeta potential
  • DLS micro-rheology for the measurement of viscoelastic modules, G 'and G' ', and of the complex viscosity of nano-systems, ideal for low viscosity and small volume samples.
  • Nanoparticle Tracking Analysis (NTA) for size and concentration measurements.

Using automatic titration, Alfatestlab provides size and zeta potential measurements as a function of pH, concentration of additives or dilution of your sample.
