Our instrumentation allows both dry (in air) and wet (in liquid) dispersion of samples, thanks to various dispersion units for small, medium and large volumes. The choice is made according to the amount of sample available, the dispersant to be used (water, oil, organic solvent, etc.), and the particle size range of the sample.
The dispersed sample is transported to dedicated cells and illuminated by a laser beam. The particles scatter the laser light at angles inversely proportional to their size; the scattered light is then analyzed by a series of detectors placed downstream of the cell. From the analysis performed, a report of the particle volume size distribution is obtained, as well as all standard parameters such as D10, D50, D90, D4:3, etc.
Alfatestlab can provide method development, method transfer (from Mastersizer 2000 to Mastersizer 3000), method validation or single analysis service.
