Cell rupture

Microfluidizer

In AlfatestLab we use Microfluidizer technology for effective cell lysis on any type of cells:  bacterial, mammalian, plant, insect, fungi, algae and yeast cells – while ensuring a high protein recovery. Microfluidizer® technology breaks cells with high efficiency while maintaining intracellular contents integrity and allow for easiest downstream purification. Moreover, this unique technology guarantees the scale-up: method developed on small volumes in the laboratory is completely transferable on Microfluidizer production systems without further optimization.

Why using Microfluidizer® technology for cell rupture?

Highest protein integrity recovery

Precisely controlled shear rates enable Microfluidizer® technology customers to use the minimum pressure required to rupture the target level of cells, while keeping proteins intact. Compared with other cell disruption techniques, the Microfluidizer® processor yields several times the amount of recoverable, usable protein.

Efficient cooling

Cooling is extremely important in cell disruption because cell contents are typically temperature sensitive. Immediately after rupturing, the Microfluidizer® heat exchanger minimize the amount of time the sample experiences elevated temperatures and the lower temperatures combined with shorter processing times result in reduced denaturing and increased yields.

The main features of the Microfluidics M-110P available at AlfatestLab are:

  •  Pressure: 2000-30,000 psi (138-2.070 bar).
  • Minimum sample volume: 50 mL.
  • Flow rate (water value): up to 120 mL / min.
